bad sugar – (video) – (en)

To paraphrase Led Zeppelin, “Does Anyone Remember Pearl Jam?”
Of course you do, and this song, titled “Paper Sky”, has just brought me its glorious “grunge” splendor, making all of us who remember it the first time feel very, very old. I remember a world B.G. (Before Grunge) when hair-metal bands and funk-‘n’-roll bands ruled the earth. While grunge bands at least handed us a few memorable tunes and held off “The Death of Music” for a few years.
Well, I exaggerate. But not by much. “Grunge” as we can see with “Bad Sugar” is still a great way for the folks over at to prove they could go toe-to-toe with any superslick marketing campaign from some fancy ad agency and essentially sell their record label as a “brand”. Are we better people because of it? We may not know that answer for a hundred years, at which point, as my friend Monteserin so astutely pointed out, “We’ll all be dead.”
Great great song and great video! Cogratulations!!

About Dugutigui

In the “Diula” language in Mali, the term « dugutigui » (chief of the village), literally translated, means: «owner of the village»; «dugu» means village and «tigui», owner. Probably the term is the result of the contraction of «dugu kuntigui» (literally: chief of the village).

I miss those days. Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, the Butthole Surfers and Debbie Gibson (i just included her because i fancied her). Good days. Happy days. Summers lasted forever and a day AND i got the occasional bit of pussy back then. Good video as well. I hope Simon Cowell watches it and commits suicide – Swee’tooth.

Yeah .. The good ol’ times, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Alice In Chains ruled the radios, and good ol’ fashioned rock was still buried in the ruins of Grunge. When sometimes you picked up the phone and heard voices 🙂 When we worshiped Kurt for “killing hair metal.” However, I believe that hair metal is the farthest thing from killed, and in fact it is Grunge that within a few years will completely plunge off the map.
In any case, when the good ol’ days come to the table I always remember the following:
“We live in a decaying age. Young people no longer respect their parents. They are rude and impatient. They frequently inhabit taverns and have no self control”.
The catch is that this is a tomb inscription from the Ancient Egypt 🙂
